CNN grills man behind Faked Planned Parenthood videos over his ties to violent extremists

David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress, who was behind the recent deceptively edited anti-Planned Parenthood videos, insisted to CNN host Alisyn Camerota on Tuesday that he was not personally a violent person even though his organization was tied to violent extremists.
“Critics of your organization say that you’re not journalists as you purport to be on your website, but rather you’re violent extremists,” Camerota noted. “They say that you are operating under the guise of investigative reporting, but really you’re trying to shut down all Planned Parenthoods and women’s access to things like birth control and other services that they provide.”
“Do you have any ties to Operation Rescue?” the CNN host asked.
“I’m not a violent person and I never have been and I never will be,” Daleiden insisted. “Troy Newman is one of the board members of the Center for Medical Progress.”
“And Troy Newman is the president of Operation Rescue,” Camerota pointed out, adding, “Operation rescue does have a history of threatening violence against abortion clinics.”
“You know, I don’t think that’s true at all,” Daleiden replied. “You would have to talk to Troy specifically about, you know, the full history of Operation Rescue and some of those details. But I don’t think that’s a fair characterization at all.”
In fact, lawsuits against Operation Rescue for using physical force against people trying to enter abortion clinics date back to the 1980s. And the group has been linked to numerous violent actions over the years. Operation Rescue member James Kopp admitted to the 1998 murder of abortion doctor Barnett Slepian. In 2009, the words “Op Rescue” were found on an envelope inside the car of the man who murdered abortion doctor George Tiller.
During the interview with Daleiden on Tuesday, Camerota pointed out that biotech companies had confirmed that Planned Parenthood never sold fetal tissue and that the group was only reimbursed for the cost of storage and processing as allowed by federal law.
Daleiden called it “really cute” that the biotech companies would back up Planned Parenthood. And he promised that the group would release a new video later on Tuesday even though they were already facing two restraining orders.
“You’re going to see evidence in it of Planned Parenthood is actually willing to sell fully intact fetuses to buyers of aborted fetal tissue,” Daleiden said. “It’s prima facie evidence of born alive infant cases.”

It is obvious that the owner of a professional sports franchise, say a National Football League team, would only hire a hair-stylist who detests, and has never played football …

Someone who is qualified for a job is generally expected to have sufficient capacity, passion, knowledge, experience and skill that matches or suits the position they seek and makes them eligible for an office or position. In fact, qualification can be thought of as denoting fitness for a job through the fulfillment of necessary conditions such as education, training, and a high degree of experience in the appropriate discipline. It is obvious that the owner of a professional sports franchise, say a National Football League team, would only hire a hair-stylist who detests, and has never played, the game of football as a general manager and head coach if they wanted their team to fail miserably. That is an absurd idea, but it is precisely what two religious Republican governors who want to decimate their state’s public education system did in appointing evangelical anti-public education fanatics to run their state’s public school systems.

There is a predilection among Republican governors devoted to a theocratic America to transfer taxpayer money set aside for public schools to private evangelical madrassas to both keep their residents ignorant and indoctrinate them in 'neo-christian' dogmata and superstition. This week, Alabama Republican Governor Robert Bentley followed Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s lead and appointed a fiercely anti-public school 'christian' fundamentalist to lead the Alabama Board of Education to transform the state’s public education system into a 12-year 'christian' indoctrination camp for Alabama children. But, one might say, at least the Alabama governor chose an evangelical freak who has passion, knowledge, and at least a decade of experience in public education that qualifies him to control the state’s public education system, but that is not the case.

The 28-year old fundamentalist 'christian', Matthew Brown, who is running Alabama’s public school system is a highway designer who attended a 'christian' - and we use the term loosely ... 'college'. He has never set foot in or attended a public school in his evangelical life. He also believes public education is an abomination before his dog and says he will never allow his children to get near a public school. Brown is also renown for his illegal campaign to defund Alabama’s public education system; what Alabama governor Bentley considers excellent qualifications to run the Board of Education. According to Bentley, the leader of the Board of Education’s fundamentalist christian ‘education’ and hatred of public schools is consistent with the Republican cabal’s political philosophy that will allow him to “bring a unique perspective to the Board of Education.” Last year, the new Education leader was successful in a drive to cut education funding and defeat an education improvement tax to purposely put a monumental strain on Alabama’s education resources. Brown also fits nicely with Republican philosophy because according to Alabama’s Secretary of State, he violated several provisions of the state’s Fair Campaign Practices Act like any proper and highly motivated evangelical Republican.

Regardless Brown’s record of religious bias against the public education system, and against the advice of his staff and state education leaders, Governor Bentley appointed the unqualified, inexperienced, openly hostile 28-year-old in charge of public education because “Brown is a young man after Bentley’s own heart.” Since being elected in 2010, Bentley has signed legislation transferring over $30 million a year away from public schools to private evangelical school voucher programs. Bentley signed another law that allows private religious charter schools to open across Alabama and gave them sole authority to approve new religious charter schools over the objection of local school boards. Plus, despite his new Education chief has no education experience except attending a 'christian' so-called 'college', Bentley is enamored with Brown because “he believes in jesus.” That “jesus qualified” designation is tantamount to allowing an fourth grader to perform brain surgery because they saw a microscope on television, but in Alabama and Texas belief in jesus qualifies one to lead the public schools.

The new head of Texas Education Department is as unqualified as Brown with stellar qualifications amounting to being a 'christian' fundamentalist who home-schooled her children in the biblical arts. Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed the 'christian' home-school mom and (Jerry Fallwell’s) 'Liberty University' and again we use the term loosely ...  'graduate' Donna Bahorich because her experience with public schools is abhorring public education not founded on bible superstition. Apparently, Abbott felt the need to replace former evangelical creationist Don McLeroy because he failed to completely abolish science education in Texas schools. He did, however, approve textbooks teaching that biblical Moses helped the Founding Fathers write the U.S. Constitution along with several other gems of 'christian' revisionisms regarding the role of the bible in America’s founding and history.

The president of the Texas Freedom Network, Kathy Miller said that “If Gov. Abbott wanted to demonstrate that he won’t continue his predecessors’ efforts to politicize and undermine our state’s public schools, this appointment falls far short. This is the person who’s ultimately responsible for decisions that’ll affect children across the state. She’s someone who doesn’t understand science or history and whose own background has little to do with education policy. The governor appointed an ideologue that guarantees the board will continue to put culture war agendas ahead of educating more than 5 million Texas kids.”

Even a prominent Republican from Mt. Pleasanton who is also on the state school board, Thomas Ratliff, was critical of Abbot’s appointment and condemned the choice of a fundamentalist with absolutely no experience whatsoever in public education. Ratliff said, “Public school isn’t for everybody, but when 94-percent of our students in Texas attend public schools I think it ought to be a baseline requirement that the chair of the State Board of Education have at least some experience in that realm, as a parent, teacher, something.”

One pundit summed up Abbott’s choice to lead the state’s Education system by saying, “What did you expect Abbott to do? Appoint someone who actually knows what he or she is doing? He doesn’t have that in him. He’d rather screw over millions of teenagers trying to get an education comparable to what kids get in other more competitive states than upset his religious base.” Abbott has quickly established a record of not standing up to his “base” whether they are anti-science and anti-education religious fanatics or conspiracy-freaks afraid that President Obama is sending the United States military to overthrow and conquer Texas.

Both Abbott’s and Bentley’s appointments of highly unqualified religious fanatics with no experience in public education is founded on their desire to abolish public schools and replace them with a taxpayer-funded evangelical madrassa system; a two-fold assault on America. First, misappropriating taxpayer dollars for biblical instruction is patently unconstitutional, and second, it is another tactic to wipe out America’s public education system as part of their crusade toward government by theocracy. A crusade, by the way, that most in government are terrified of challenging because dog, jesus, and bible apparently supersede the U.S. Constitution, or government officials would put a stop to it.

In Texas’ case, an incompetent religious fanatic as Board of Education chairperson is a certain means of perpetuating the indoctrination of 5 million children every year to deny history and science and remain as ignorant and stupid as the current generation. Republicans thrive on perpetuating incompetence and ignorance in their crusade to keep Americans in poverty because children without an education are doomed to low-wage jobs. Even Republicans are well-aware that employers looking for prospective employees competent in superstition and archaic mythos are few and far between; except in Texas and Alabama where inexperience and belief in fairy tales will get one appointed head of the state Board of Education.

Comments from around the globe in our inbox have been very complimentary and praising - especially in places where censorship is rampant ... that we are a breath of fresh air.

It also helps that we are an American based information source that is giving the same information our worldwide readers are getting from their news sources and not what the US domestic media and propaganda machine is spewing out so they know that real Americans are nothing like the wingnuts and that we despise them as much as they do.

The wingnuts really can't comprehend how badly they are despised throughout the nation and the entire world - even most those that are 'wingnuts' in their own countries despise American wingnuts ... there are a few that are on par with their American wingnut brethren though, but few - ISIL for example.
Wingnut hate is loosing and always will.
Of course, as we all know the wingnuts deny their hate and accuse everyone else of it in classic transference ... they do this in everything.

Speaking of wingnuts: the wingnut trolls that have attempted to pollute this blog have been for the most part eradicated - most or either in jail or awaiting sentencing for various crimes from drug and human trafficking to pedophilia and murder ... all were caught by law enforcement after we reported their trolling activities here. For those few trolls who have not yet been contacted by the authorities, be patient, they are coming for you.

We would like to give a shout out to Miss Ashley Judd who gave us the idea of reporting the trolls to the authorities and bypassing Blogger all together when she did the same to the trolls infesting her site because reporting them to Blogger is a waste of time.
However reporting them directly to law enforcement gets results (and it just so happens that the trolls trying to infest here were into all manner of anti-social criminal behaviors not just anti-social hate trolling ... something that while does not hold true in ALL trolling cases it does in the overwhelmingly vast majority of them).

One would think that those engaging in felonious activities would be more circumspect and not attempt to troll and be reported - but intelligence has never been a strong suit of trolls and felons.

Bernie Sanders put on a clinic and completely stonewalled ABC’s News Jon Karl when he tried to get the Democratic candidate to personally attack Hillary Clinton.

KARL: Hey, we are out of time. I want a yes or no answer to one quick question. Hillary Clinton’s poll suggest a lot of people don’t see her as honest and trustworthy. Do you think Hillary Clinton is honest and trustworthy?

SANDERS: I have a lot of respect for Hillary Clinton. She is somebody I’ve known for 25 years. I’m not going to be engaging in personal attacks against her.

KARL: So you won’t say whether or not she’s honest.

SANDERS: I’m not going to be engaging in personal attacks against her. She and I disagree on many issues. The American people want a serious debate about serious issues, not personal attacks.

KARL: All right, Senator Sanders, thank you very much for joining us.

Whether one supports Bernie Sanders or not, the Senator from Vermont deserves respect for the way that he has conducted his campaign. The media would love nothing more than for Sanders to personally attack Clinton. The corporate media in the United States has convinced themselves that the American people are too stupid to enjoy a debate about issues, so they spend their time trying to goad candidates into personally attacking each other.

Sanders is the only candidate who has not taken the bait. He understands that personally attacking Hillary Clinton would take the focus off of the issues that matter. Plus, one of the reasons why Senator Sanders has attracted such a dedicated following is that he is a different kind of candidate. There is a something dignified about a candidate who refuses to dwell in the sewer of modern American politics.

The contrast between the Democratic and Republican primaries is striking. On the Republican side, rnc chairwhimp Priebus is practically begging his candidates to stop attacking each other, but with Trump sitting at the top of the polls, the Republican primary has become a mudslinging contest.

While the Republicans are doing everything in their power to avoid discussing issues, Democrats are having an issue-driven debate among their candidates that is already sharpening up their vision of what the post-Obama Democratic agenda will look like.

Bernie Sanders isn’t going to be bullied by the corporate media. He knows exactly what the press wants, and he is refusing to give it to them. Whether the media likes it or not, Democrats are going to have a spirited primary centered around the issues.

Save the circus and childish behavior for the Republicans. Democrats are busy plotting a path to a prosperous future for the middle-class.

Bernie Sanders Lobs A Crippling Blow At The Kochs With Bill To Publicly Fund Elections

During a campaign event in New Hampshire, Senator Bernie Sanders announced that he will be filing a bill that would effectively cripple the Kochs and wingnut billionaires by providing public funding for elections.

According to the Sanders campaign:

Decrying the influence of big money in American politics, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Sunday said he will introduce legislation to provide public funding of elections. “We’re going to introduce legislation which will allow people to run for office without having to beg money from the wealthy and the powerful,” Sanders said.

He called the current campaign finance system a “sad state of affairs.” Public funding, he added, would level the political playing field and make elections more competitive. It also would let candidates spend more time meeting voters and discussing issues and less time raising campaign funds. “That’s called democracy and I am going to do everything I can to bring that about,” Sanders said.

Public funding of campaigns would counteract the disastrous Supreme Court ruling in a case known as Citizens United. That 2010 case and others which followed in its wake have gutted decades-old limits on campaign funding and paved the way for millionaires and billionaires to spend unlimited sums to influence election outcomes. “We must overturn that decision before it’s too late,” Sanders told the crowd here. “We are increasingly living in an oligarchy where big money is buying politicians,” Sanders added.

A law that would provide for public funding of elections would even the playing field and neutralize the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling. Because the potential legislation would not mandate public funding or limit donations, the wingnuts on the Supreme Court would be powerless to stop the law.

What Sanders is proposing would cripple the influence of the billionaires because candidates would not have to suck up to the wealthy to fund their campaigns.

The epidemic of billionaire dollars has reached an absurd extreme as Politico recently reported, “The 67 biggest donors, each of whom gave $1 million or more, donated more than three times as much as the 508,000 smallest donors combined, according to a POLITICO analysis of reports filed with the Federal Election Commission and the Internal Revenue Service.”

The reason the American people have a Congress that ignores their priorities is because the men and women who are supposed to serve The People feel more beholden to their wealthy donors than their constituents. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is out to change all of that.

The Sanders bill won’t get sixty votes in the Senate, but the point of the legislation is to raise awareness of the issue while giving Americans a bill to rally around. Bernie Sanders is building an army to take down the Kochs, and his bill is a shot across the bow at the oligarchs.

Trump fell apart when questioned about his racism towards African-Americans on ABC’s This Week.

KARL: So let me ask you about something you tweeted last year. You said of Barack Obama, “Sadly, because President Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won’t see another black president for generations.”

What did you mean by that?

TRUMP: Well, I think he’s been a very poor president. I think he has done a very poor job as president. We have $18 trillion right now in debt and going up rapidly.

KARL: But what did you mean? What —

TRUMP: Wait a minute.

The world is — we don’t have victories anymore. China is killing us on trade. Mexico’s killing us at the border and also killing us on trade. Mexico’s doing unbelievably against us in trade.

You look at what’s going on with Japan. You look at what’s going on with Vietnam. You look at Saudi Arabia, makes $1 billion a day and we defend them. We get nothing.

KARL: I understand your critique. But why do you say that means we won’t see another black president for generations?

TRUMP: Because I think that he has set a very poor standard. I think that he has set a very low bar and I think it’s a shame for the African American people.

And by the way, he has done nothing for African Americans. You look at what’s gone on with their income levels. You look at what’s gone on with their youth. I thought that he would be a great cheerleader for this country. I thought he’d do a fabulous job for the African American citizens of this country.

He has done nothing. They are worse now than just about ever and —

KARL: But —

TRUMP: — they are — excuse me. They have problems now in terms of unemployment numbers, look at their unemployment numbers. And you have — here you have a black president who’s done very poorly for the African-Americans of this country.

And I think that I will win the African-American vote, and I think I will win the Hispanic vote. And if you see the recent polls that came out, Jon, you’ll see that because I’m leading in the Hispanic vote.

Trump’s claim was that since Obama has been a “bad” president, no African-American will be able to win the White House for generations. When Jon Karl pressed him on what he meant by there won’t be another African-American president for generations, Trump broke into his billionaire bluster and claimed that African-Americans and Hispanics will vote for him.

The contradiction in Trump’s claim was an inference that African-Americans voted for Obama because he is black, but they are going to turn to the rich white man to “rescue” them in 2016. Trump was called out on his racist beliefs, and instead of admitting his racism, he fell apart and retreated to his usual empty tough talk.

When even Jon “Benghazi emails” Karl is calling out Trump’s racism, the writing is on the wall.

However, racism is what has made Trump so popular with Republican voters. Don’t expect Trump to apologize or change because without the racism, he is just another unqualified Republican candidate.

Jorge Ramos: Are you putting her to the left? Are you exposing her weaknesses? In other words, that you’re better on TV, better on the campaign trail, getting more money from small donors.

Bernie Sanders: Well, it’s not a question of pushing her to the left. We are speaking to the needs of the American people. What the American people know is the rich are getting much richer and almost everybody else is getting poor. We know that youth unemployment is just horrendously high. A study came out recently, Hispanic youth unemployment, 36 percent; African-American youth unemployment, for kids who graduate high school, 51 percent. People understand that we need to create jobs. We got a program to do that.

JR: But are you exposing her weaknesses?

BS: I think by telling the truth we are forcing her and other candidates to respond to that reality. I’ve come out for a $15 minimum wage. Because I don’t think people can survive on $7.25 an hour or $9 an hour. I think she’s moving in that direction too.

Beneath the claims that he can beat Hillary Clinton, Sen. Sanders has been very open about the goals of his campaign. One of the goals that he stated before he launched his campaign was that he wanted to make sure that liberal and progressive voices had a seat at the table during the Democratic primary. Sanders also wants to have a serious discussion about the issues that impact the lives of everyday Americans. He has also stated the goal of building a movement of millions to take back the electoral system from the Koch brothers and other oligarchic billionaires.

So far, Bernie Sanders has been successful at almost every level. His goal may not have been to push Hillary Clinton to the left, but that is what his campaign is accomplishing. By forcing the Clinton campaign to compete for Democratic voters, the Sanders campaign has forced them to define their positions sooner than they may have liked. The Sanders campaign is helping Hillary Clinton become a stronger candidate while sparking a discussion on economic issues that have been ignored for decades.

Senator Sanders is shaking up the political landscape because he is authentic, and he is telling the truth. The focus is on the issues, and Bernie Sanders has fundamentally transformed the 2016 Democratic primary through his blunt message of economic truth.

Bernie Sanders Gets Major Environmental Endorsement

The campaign of Bernie Sanders scored a major coup Saturday, earning the first endorsement of any candidate by a national environmental group, Friends of the Earth.

Granted, the field is limited to Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, given that no living Republican candidate will ever earn the endorsement of any environmental group, local, state, or national. But with the narrowing gap between Clinton and Sanders, this endorsement is no small thing.

Donald Trump, of course, currently the leading Republican candidate, announced back in January of 2014 that “This very expensive GLOBAL WARMING bullshit has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps,and our GW scientists are stuck in ice.”

Now, with 2014 behind us, the studies are in, and according to NOAA, 2014 was the warmest year on record:

The Sanders campaign released a statement from Concord, New Hampshire:

“I am very honored to receive the endorsement of one of the great environmental organizations not only in America but in the world,” Sanders said at the news conference at a park here along the banks of the Merrimack River.

The endorsement was announced by Michael Herz, a former chairman and current Friends of the Earth board member. Erich Pica, the president of Friends of the Earth Action, said in a statement that the endorsement means his group’s 2 million activists will promote Sanders’ bid to become the Democratic Party nominee for president.

“He has proven himself a bold and fearless voice for the planet,” Pica said of Sanders in a prepared statement. “Sen. Sanders’ bold ideas and real solutions to addressing climate change, inequality and promoting a transformative economy that prioritizes public health and the environment over corporate profits, have earned him an enthusiastic endorsement from Friends of the Earth Action.”

In the audience at the news conference was Jerry Curran, the chairman of the New Hampshire chapter of the Sierra Club. Another leading environmentalist and best-selling author, Bill McKibben, took part in the May 26 kickoff of Sanders’ presidential campaign at a Lake Champlain shoreline park in Burlington, Vermont.

In accepting the Friends of the Earth endorsement, Sanders focused on the most serious environmental issue confronting the planet: global warming. “We need to transform our energy system away from fossil fuel and into sustainable energy,” Sanders said.

The endorsement capped a week during which Sanders welcomed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s support for solar power and energy efficiency, but questioned her refusal to take a stand on construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline and drilling for oil in the Arctic Ocean.

“If you’re concerned about climate change, say no to the Keystone XL pipeline,” Sanders said at the news conference. He said the pipeline would ship some of the dirtiest oil on the planet from Canada’s tar sands region across the United States to refineries in Texas.

Sanders’ clear stand on the pipeline was among the factors Friends of the Earth cited in its endorsement.

Sanders said he would tax emissions from burning oil and coal to discourage the use of fossil fuels responsible for climate change. He has proposed eliminating $135 billion in tax breaks for fossil fuel companies which turn enormous profits. He introduced legislation Congress passed to create an energy efficiency block grant program. His measure was folded into a broader energy bill that Congress passed in 2007. He later secured $3.2 billion for the initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming. And his 10 Million Solar Roofs Act would make solar power more affordable and make it simpler for homeowners and businesses to get local permits.

The environment gets far too little attention. Republicans don’t care about it. Ann Coulter, for example, echoing what many Republicans seem to believe, says immigration is the important issue, not the fact that sea levels are rising along with global temperatures, year after year.

It is important that going forward, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders address this important issue, because it is the only issue being talked about in this campaign cycle that affects every living person on this planet. And without a habitable planet, all other issues, no matter how dear to your heart, become non-issues.

While Other Candidates Tap Millionaires, Sanders Campaign Is Fueled By Small Donations

On Friday, campaign super PACs filed financial reports with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), giving the public a more complete picture of which candidates are doing well and which ones are doing poorly in the fundraising race. The August 1st edition of The New York Times ran a piece showing how much money each candidate has raised, and it also included how much cash has been raised by super PACs supporting each candidate.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has raised 13.7 million dollars in total contributions, with 80. 7 percent of that money coming from donations of 200 dollars or less. For comparison, 19 percent of Hillary Clinton’s donations have been 200 dollars or less. Just 3.3 percent of Jeb Bush’s contributions have come from small donations.

Only retired neurosurgeon Carson comes close to matching Sanders in his reliance on small donors to power his campaign. 80.2 percent of Carson’s money has come from donations of 200 dollars or less.

While those figures are from the actual campaigns themselves, the race for dollars among super PACs might be even more revealing. For example, over 95 percent of contributions to super PACs that support Cruz have come from donations of one million dollars or more. Over 75 percent of super PAC funds in support of Huckabee, Perry and Rubio have also come from contributions of a million dollars or greater.

For Hillary Clinton super PACs, the figure is 51.1 percent. By contrast, no pro-Sanders super PAC has received any donations exceeding a million dollars.

Thirty-one wealthy donors have given 1.1 million dollars or more to fund presidential candidates or pro-candidate super PACs. Each of those donors has funneled their money to Republicans, with Cruz bootlickers Mercer and Neugebauer leading the charge. Each has donated more than ten million to support Cruz’s pretender bid.

While no individual has given over a million dollars to back any Democrat running for president, a handful of individuals have contributed exactly one million to help elect Hillary Clinton. Philanthropist George Soros and film director Steven Spielberg have each contributed a million dollars to help elect Hillary Clinton.

Since Bernie Sanders is explicitly taking on the “billionaire class”, it makes sense that his campaign would resonate with ordinary citizens, while failing to catch hold with the super wealthy. The fundraising reports released so far bear out what it probably obvious. Bernie Sanders campaign is a grassroots, people-powered movement, while most of the other campaigns are being backed by millionaires and billionaires.
