Pressure Grows On NBC As 115,000+ Sign Petition Demanding SNL Dump Trump
The petition to have NBC dump Donald Trump as the host of the
November 7 episode of SNL is spreading like wildfire, and 115,000+
Americans are demanding that Trump be dumped.The petition states:
By inviting Trump to host Saturday Night Live, NBC is demonstrating that it doesn’t care about its Latino and pro-immigrant viewers. It is providing a platform for Trump’s insulting attacks on immigrants and calling it entertainment — something we do not find funny.
It is shameful for NBC to allow Trump to host Saturday Night Live, a comedy show when one of the main policies he has promised would rip apart millions of immigrant and Latino families.
NBC cannot bill hateful rhetoric as comedy, much less entertainment.
This should strike the American people as both unfair and wrong. NBC is risking a major backlash by insisting on letting Trump host the show. Historically, presidential have appeared on SNL. It is what they do to reach voters who might not follow politics. It makes for a nice humanizing moment, and might even be good for a few chuckles.
A candidate being in a sketch is not the same as the publicity that comes from hosting the show. If NBC refuses to dump Trump from SNL, they will be burning a lot of bridges. NBC has no problem with being in the Trump business, but they will regret their cheap ratings grab after they lose viewers on November 7 and beyond.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans are determined not to let NBC back into the Trump business.
Bernie Sanders Shreds Trump For Lying About His Plan To Raise Taxes On The Rich
During an interview on ABC’s This Week, Bernie Sanders went to town on Trump after the billionaire lied and claimed that Sanders would raise taxes to 90%.

Sanders went on to say that the tax rate on the wealthy would be higher than it is now, but he would focus on loopholes that allow the wealthy and corporations to hide their money overseas. Sanders is going to go after the ways that the super rich make more money without paying taxes.He said that taxes would not have to be raised beyond the 1%.
From calling him a communist to completely distorting his tax plan, Trump is flat out lying about Bernie Sanders on the campaign trail. Trump isn’t lying because he is afraid of Sanders as much as his lies are designed to help him sell his own massive tax cut for the rich as a tax cut for all.
As with everything Trump does, his motives are selfish. Trump doesn’t want to pay higher taxes, and he is looking to sell himself as the ultimate benevolent capitalist by lying about Bernie Sanders.
Sen. Sanders’ messages about income inequality and unfairness are resonating, so Trump is trying to shoot the messenger, but Bernie Sanders is fighting back.

President Obama’s Bold Step Stops Arctic Oil Drilling
In one fell swoop, the President took a concrete step to reduce all
current and future threats to the Arctic region. The Administration
cancelled new lease sales…
If a person is really devoted to something it means they are focused on that particular thing and work towards achieving its’ goals; whatever they may be. Of course, for a President of the United States it is virtually impossible to be exclusively devoted to any one thing or cause, unless of course it is a Republican pretender; they are typically exclusively devoted to war and enriching to the ultra-wealthy. Throughout President Barack Obama’s tenure in the White House, there were some ’causes’ that appeared to be set aside as if they were very low priorities, but over the past couple of years he has demonstrated that he is deeply devoted to combating climate change and protecting the environment.
Whether it is working with China to set new carbon emission standards, vetoing the KeystoneXL pipeline approval legislation, setting new clean air standards, or pushing for greater investment in renewable energy sources, there is little doubt that Barack Obama is devoted to protecting the environment and combating climate change. Now, in a stunning reversal from just a couple of months ago, President Obama has taken a huge, and absolute, step to reduce any future threats from the dirty oil industry to the North Alaskan coast and Arctic Ocean. This is a serious bit of good news for the environment and the war on global climate change that, curiously, corporate-owned mainstream media has failed to report or condemn.
On Friday, to little fanfare, the Obama Administration sent a very clear, and forceful, message to the oil industry that their dangerous plans to drill for oil in the Arctic Ocean were futile. In one fell swoop, the President took a concrete step to reduce all current and future threats to the Arctic region. The Administration cancelled new lease sales in the so-called “Polar Bear Seas,” the Chukchi and Beaufort, just off the north Alaskan coast. He also issued a terse “absolutely not” reply to lease extension requests from Shell and other oil corporations such as BP that hold existing leases in the region; leases that are now likely not worth the paper they are printed on.
Prior to the announcement, the President’s Administration had focused on, and was devoted to, excluding some “high value” environmentally-threatened areas and pledged that any drilling would be subject to “very high” standards. In fact, the Administration previously gave Shell approval to start drilling and tentatively proposed allowing even more leasing in the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic after 2017. But a few things happened in the past two months that made the President’s decision much easier to justify and frankly, necessary to protect the fragile environment and combat climate change.
First, Shell oil, in a rush to start drilling, was discovered to be using an oil spill containment system that was proven to fail prompting federal regulators to impose harsh restrictions on the company to only “preliminary shallow drill” in the Chukchi Sea off Alaska. Shortly thereafter, Mother Gaia interceded and unleashed a huge ice floe that forced Shell to halt drilling operations 70 miles off the North-West coast of Alaska. The vice president, Peter Slaiby, of Shell Alaska claimed that his company had learned a valuable lesson from the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Then, last year after a rash of Shell equipment failures, federal fines, and a BP-like drilling unit running aground, the corporation dramatically scaled-back its crusade to drill for crude in Arctic waters.
Of course, as the so-called Seattle Washington “kayaktivists” protesting Arctic drilling rightly cited that their protests and obstructionism was always more of a climate change issue due the fact that “new huge investments in dirty fuels cannot possibly be harmonized with the Administration’s stated drive to shift to a clean energy future.” But it was not just environmentalists’ pressure that emboldened the President to make the right decision; Shell’s significant international shareholders demanded that corporate leadership explain exactly how exploring and drilling for oil in a pristine environment “squared with limiting damage from global climate change.”
That nearly unanimous vote also demanded that Shell start reporting on whether, or how, its long-term business plans and current activities were compatible with a pledge by world’s governments to limit global warming to a 2C rise. Also, about 150 investors controlling billions upon billions of dollars in shares put a permanent ban on corporate bonuses for any industry activity that damages the climate. They also imposed a requirement for Shell to start investing in renewable energy.
Shell had little option but to embrace the proposal; particularly after a four-and-a-half hour meeting dominated by 98.9 % of shareholders casting doubt on Shell’s climate change credentials and criticizing the international corporation’s continued efforts to extract fossil fuels instead of focusing on clean renewable energy sources. After Shell’s board or directors “accepted” the strident shareholder resolution, the fund manager for America’s largest public pension fund praised the company for “publicly recognizing that climate change posed a threat to the world and to Shell’s business,” and likely its reputation as an international corporation. For the record, the same resolution was passed a month earlier at BP; the corporation responsible for the DeepWater Horizon disaster.
President Obama has always claimed, often to severe criticism, that his Administration’s energy policy was “all of the above.” Now it is apparent that where combating global climate change and protecting the environment and endangered wildlife is concerned, “all of the above” was just a nifty slogan and not a literal policy according to this latest action. When the President gave Shell permission to drill the Arctic a couple of months ago, he defended the move by claiming that drilling in the Arctic Ocean was inevitable.
Now that the President took the Arctic Ocean region completely off the table, it is obvious that the only inevitability is that he is devoted to doing everything within his Executive authority to combat global climate change and protect the environment. Coupled with all the other environmental protection actions and bold efforts to combat climate change, it is no wonder the Koch brothers and Republicans have spent no small amount of time and money to oppose this President; even though they have lost at every turn.

to combat domestic terrorism, wingnuts, as predicted, are hopping
mad. Their response is to do some Republican math to transform
themselves from the threat to the victims. Breitbart was quick to pick up the story of course, and warn that Obama sees veterans as terrorists, and Alex Jones’ Infowars warns that “Given past history, DOJ’s “domestic terrorism counsel” will politically persecute libertarians and wingnuts.”
Muslim-baiter Pamela Geller (who was actually criticized by Trump for her “draw Mohammed” contest) had a predictable response, proclaiming on her site, “TREASON: Obama’s DOJ Colludes with Extremist Hate Group SPLC to Create “Domestic Terrorism” Division.
Geller spews,

The Justice Department’s teaming with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) means that all Americans who oppose the Obama Administration’s hard-Left agenda will be under suspicion (or worse) of being “domestic extremists” — including those who criticize the Administration for refusing to tell the truth about the nature and magnitude of the global jihad threat.Sweet six-and-a-half-pound baby jesus’ high capacity magazine…This stuff writes itself, folks.
In fact, as The Atlantic reported in 2012, you are more likely to be killed by your own furniture than by any sort of terrorist.
Wing Nut Daily, in their “New Obama Czar Will Hunt ‘Right-Wing’ Extremists,” also claims that the new domestic terrorism counsel will “become the vehicle through which the Justice Department can target those who oppose the Obama agenda,” adding, “If a totalitarian leftist had to write a description for a government operation to suppress his enemies, this would be it.”
“I’m sure it’s gun laws,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, another watchdog agency. Fitton says the Justice Department is teaming up with the Southern Poverty Law Center to “go after” the Obama administration’s political enemies while downplaying the threat of Islamic terrorism on U.S. soil.
Domestic terrorists, on the other hand, are killing Americans. Heck, toddlers shooting guns have killed more Americans than Islamic terrorists.
As Assistant Attorney General John P. Carlin explained, “We recognize that, over the past few years, more people have died in this country in attacks by domestic extremists than in attacks associated with international terrorist groups.”
Fitton complains a black man can kill a white cop and not be identified as a terrorist, but the motivation for every white shooter, he claims, is “mental illness” and is wrongly identified by the authorities as a domestic terrorist.
Inevitably, after arguing away all the people killed by homegrown terrorists, conservatives turn around the charges we have been leveling at Republican governance since Obama took office, that of creating solutions looking for problems:
As the Obama administration comes down to its final months in office, look for more brazen, racially charged steps that target law-abiding American citizens who express political views that don’t line up with those of the administration, Fitton said.Apparently, we imagined this:
“This is going to become the vehicle through which the Justice Department can target those who oppose the Obama agenda,” he said. “This is a solution in search of a problem.”
“The fantasy of right-wing extremists trying to overthrow the government has always been a liberal fantasy,” Fitton said. “They write books off it. They make movies off it and raise money off it. Now they’re endorsing it as reality, and it’s truly frightening.”
If you want fantasies, try John Whitehead of the Rutherford Institute, who complains to Wingn Nut Daily:
“Anybody with a gun now, in my opinion, is an extremist, at least as viewed by this government,” Whitehead said. “You’re going to be watched. Be careful what you say on Facebook. The wrong kind of joke will put you on the extremist list, because the government agents – I will tell you this – they do not have a sense of humor.”Mind-boggling, but yes, he is claiming Obama thinks you are an extremist if you own a gun. No evidence of that, but why bother with pesky facts when you can just invent something more congenial to your extremist views?

If you want to see the future of law enforcement, watch the film “Minority Report,” a drama about “pre-crime” fighting police engaged 24/7 with a population addicted to social media and the Internet, Whitehead said.
“They’re already saying ‘we’re going against violent extremists,’ but who are they?” Whitehead said. “Well automatically under the Obama administration you are an extremist if you own a gun.”
It’s truly bizarre to here people who live in a fantasy land created and sustained by Fox News accuse others of living in a fantasy land. We have watched them collectively sail right off the edge of the world and then wonder why we aren’t following.
All they can do at this point is continue doing Republican math to sustain that reality bubble, and the efforts of Wing Nut Daily and people like Fitton fall flat when compared to the real world facts cited by Carlin and the DOJ.
There is a reason Dylann Roof posed with a Confederate flag and then went off to kill some black people. And it’s the same reason lone Islamic terrorists go off and kill people they see as their enemies: he was radicalized.
It is not a fantasy, liberal or otherwise, but reality, and all the false dismay by Fitton and others won’t change one single, unwelcome fact.

It has been a great few weeks - even with the massive amount on rain a few days back - around here.
Our new gal everything Brooke is working out nicely.
She has taken a lot of the job of editing The Truth Be Told over and is doing a wonderful job of it.
Which has left us freer to do other things now that the Mrs., is back to full speed as it were from her health scare of the last decade so she is taking a more active role in working the farm like she did when we first got the place - of course her specialty is the animals and the herb garden so the farm staff take care of the bulk of the farming.
My emeritus status at the university allows me to research and teach as I please and I have begun to teach more classes, there is an encouraging trend just beginning to form among young college students ... a love and desire and desperate need to learn science ... after an entire generation of glorifying the stupid and ignorant the light begins to shine bright again. Of course the stupid and ignorant are fighting the losing battle to retain their status ... one needs only to look at the political circus in the U.S. to recognize that (though only if you are not those of the stupid and ignorant variety).

Hillary Clinton spent her latest interview on CNN treating the partisan Benghazi investigation like the joke that it is. When Jake Tapper tried to ask a question about her emails, Clinton laughed in his face.

Jake Tapper tried to ask about Clinton’s emails, and he was met with laughter. His claim that a lot of people are interested in her emails was a bit of Fox News like verbal sleight of hand. By a lot of people, Tapper meant Republicans, because polling has consistently revealed that Democrats and Independents don’t care about her emails.
Earlier in the interview, Clinton took down the Benghazi committee by questioning their objectives, ” I’ve already testified about Benghazi. I testified to the best of my ability before the Senate and the House. I don’t know that I have very much to add. This is after all the eighth investigation. Other committees of the Congress, standing committees with other experienced members of staff have all looked into this and basically just rejected the conspiracy theories that are still floating out there in some circles. So, I really don’t know. I will do my best to answer their questions. But I don’t really know what their objective is right now.”
Hillary Clinton’s laughter was a sign that she is no longer going to indulge the media on the email questions. Two Republican members of Congress and a former Republican investigator on the Select Committee have all admitted that the investigation is a pretext that is being used to gather dirt on Hillary Clinton.
The game is over for the media. Clinton is treating the partisan Benghazi investigation like the bad joke that it is.
Billionaire Class Should Be Scared Because 99% Of Bernie Sanders Donors Can Give Again
Here are the basic numbers from the Sanders campaign:
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ raised $26.2 million during the third quarter of this year – all of it for use in primaries and caucuses – in a grassroots presidential campaign that has drawn 1.3 million small donations since it began.
The average donation was $30 apiece.
The campaign closed the books at the end of the Sept. 30 reporting period with almost $27.1 million in the bank after spending about $11.3 million, according to a report filed on Thursday with the Federal Election Commission.
Since his White House bid was launched last April 30, Sanders has banked a total of about $41.4 million, according to the report.
Only 270 of Sanders’ 650,000 donors gave the maximum $2,700 allowed.
That last sentence is what should scare the billionaires who are trying to buy the US government. Bernie Sanders was able to raise more money than every Republican pretender candidate, and he did it by not maxing out his donors. At thirty bucks a pop, his donors could give to him 90 times before they would max out and hit their contribution limit for the primary.
The billionaires can give unlimited funds to super PACs thanks to Citizens United, but the limitations of super PAC are becoming very obvious. Perry and Walker both had millions of dollars in super PACs, and both are no longer running for president. Jeb’s super PACs have raised hundreds of millions of dollars, but he is stuck in single digits even after spending millions of super PAC dollars on ads in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Super PACs have yet to prove that they can elect a pretender candidate. The best way to directly aid a candidate remains a contribution to their campaign.
The billionaires have the dollars, but Bernie Sanders has the numbers. Sanders is demonstrating that the collective power of small donors can power a presidential campaign.
Sanders supporters are outnumbering the billionaires, and taking back the corrupt campaign finance system one thirty dollar donation at a time.
