A New Low For Wingnuts: Saying The Shrub Was Pretender During 9/11 Is A ‘Liberal Conspiracy’
Trump’s Criticism of The Shrub Exposes Republican Cabal Foreign Policy Incompetence
Trump is shining a light on exactly what Americans have to look
forward to if they elect a Republican pretender; foreign policy
incompetence…
No matter what one thinks of Trump, he has been consistently truthful in attacking Jeb for his brother, the shrub’s abject failure as pretender; but particularly his poor performance in keeping Americans safe and out of needless wars.
The exchange between Trump and Jeb during the Republican pretender 'debate' regarding the shrub’s debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan, and whether the shrub kept Americans safe continues unabated and Democrats should take advantage. During the 'debate', Jeb told Trump, “As it relates to my brother, there’s one thing I know for sure: He kept us safe. I don’t know if you remember, you remember the rubble? You remember the firefighter with his arms around him? He sent a clear signal that the United States would be strong and fight Islamic terrorism, and he did keep us safe.” Trump was unimpressed and persisted in assailing the shrub and giving Democrats ammunition against Republicans.
During a recent interview a Bloomberg journalist, Stephanie Ruhle, told Republican professional wrestling and reality television star Trump that as a pretender candidate “We need to know who Trump is as a man, and we need to know that you will make us feel safe and make us feel proud.” Trump replied with his usual bombastic self-aggrandizing and also spoke the truth; “I think I’m much more competent than all of them. When you talk about the shrub – I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time.” Ms. Ruhle was aghast and exclaimed, “Hold on! You can’t blame the shrub for that!” Ruhle to rushed defend the shrub’s incompetence because he was only pretender of the United States for eight months at the time of 9/11. However, Trump was unfazed and shot back with some uncharacteristic truth; “He was pretender, OK? Blame him or don’t blame him, but he was pretender. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.” And Americans were sent to fight two unnecessary wars.
Now there is no sane American who believes the shrub kept Americans safe, and yet wingnuts of all stripes continue parroting that notorious lie and Jeb is leading the pack. Jeb angrily responded to Trump and said,
“Look, my brother responded to a crisis, and he did it as you would hope a president would do — united the country, he organized the country and he kept us safe. There’s no denying that and the great majority of Americans believe that, and I don’t know why he keeps bringing this up.”
Of course Trump is not going to be honest enough to admit that he, as much as the rest of the Republican candidates, would repeat George W. Bush’s foreign policy disasters, but that is not the point. The point is that Trump is shining a light on exactly what Americans have to look forward to if they elect any Republican as president; foreign policy incompetence and more wars. For dog’s sake, America is still paying dearly to clean up Bush’s debacle in Afghanistan and Iraq and unbelievably most of the GOP candidates want to restart and expand the wars. One can only hope that Trump ramps up his attacks on Jeb as a surrogate for his brothers’ incompetence and failure to keep Americans’ safe.
The reality is that any of the wayward Republicans forgetting their existence is dependent on mendacity are giving Democrats precious gifts; if they are savvy enough to use them. Whereas House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy put a stake through the Benghazi committee’s heart, and Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) damaged the evangelical Republican crusade to destroy Planned Parenthood, it may be Donald Trump who handed Democrats a nicely-wrapped gift they can ill-afford to squander.
Every time Trump truthfully states that George W. Bush did not keep Americans safe and embroiled the nation in two extremely costly and disastrous wars, he is criticizing and exposing the foreign policy aspirations of every Republican candidate for president. All of the Republican candidates have telegraphed their intent to repeat all of the catastrophic Bush policies, especially those in the Middle East; some have enlisted former Bush administration warmongers as foreign policy advisors.
Since most Americans have retarded memories, and extremely short attention spans, it is very helpful to Democrats that the leading Republican candidate is unwittingly reminding voters exactly what a GOP president will do to the country. Now it is up to Democrats to take advantage of Trump’s honesty.
Jeb Falls Apart When Asked Why He Blames Obama For Benghazi But Not The Shrub For 9/11
Transcript via CNN:
TAPPER: But how do you respond to critics who ask, if your brother and his administration bear no responsibility at all, at all, how do you then make the jump that President Obama and Secretary Clinton are responsible for what happened at Benghazi?
There were calls for security. It looks like they didn’t get it. And how was the response in the aftermath of the attack? Was there a chance that these four American lives could have been saved? That’s what the investigation is about. It’s not a political issue. It’s not about the broad policy issue, is, were we doing the job of protecting our embassies and our consulates, and during the period, those hours after the attacks started, could they have been saved?
TAPPER: Well, that’s — that’s kind of proving the point of the critics I was just asking about, because — you don’t want to have your brother bear responsibility for 9/11.
And I understand that argument and al Qaeda is responsible. But why are the terrorists not the ones who are responsible for these attacks in Libya?
JEB: They are. Of course they are. But — of course they are. But if the ambassador was asking for additional security and didn’t
get it, that’s a proper point. And if it’s proven that the security was adequate compared to other embassies, fine. We’ll move on.
There is a reason Jeb is polling in single digits everywhere, and that reason’s name is the shrub. Jeb’s hypocritical non-answer perfectly summarized why he never going to be elected pretender.
Jeb can’t both attack Obama, and defend his brother’s horrible record. His attempts to do both have resulted in the rewriting of history. Jeb’s answer left out the pre-9/11 intelligence that his brother’s junta ignored.
Jeb has been a disaster as a candidate, and answers such as the one he provided to CNN are a big part of why he is failing.

Hillary Clinton Refuses To Take The Media’s Bait And Criticize Bernie Sanders’ Positions
CNN’s Jake Tapper tried to get Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to criticize the policies of Bernie Sanders as unrealistic, but Clinton defended Sanders’ perspective and ambitious vision.
Transcript via CNN State of the Union:
TAPPER: Turning to the debate, you said at the debate that you’re a progressive, but you’re a progressive that likes to get things done. Sanders has plans that I think might be fairly called more ambitious
Do you think he’s being unrealistic when he makes these proposals, in terms of what can actually get passed through Congress?
CLINTON: Look, I have the highest regard for Senator Sanders. And I think he is raising issues that the electorate, not just Democrats, everybody needs to be thinking about.
And he has put forward his plans with passionate intensity. And I have put forth mine. And just think of the difference between us and the Republicans, who have put forth nothing but the same old out-of- touch, out-of-date policies.
TAPPER: But why are his plans more ambitious? Is it…
CLINTON: Well, his — he has a very ambitious and expansive view about what he thinks should be done with respect to free college and other of the policies that we both are trying to tackle.
I believe that my approach, for example, on college, I call it the New College Compact, because I think everybody should have some skin in the game, including students, who I say should work for part of their education. Maybe it’s because I did and my husband did, but I think it’s something that you want young people to feel really committed to.
It’s a difference in approach. We will have an opportunity, as these debates go forward, to really dig down. And I’m hoping that whatever network hosts them, whoever the moderator happens to be, that they will really ask us to explain and contrast.
But it’s a policy difference. I mean, you could see on that stage in Las Vegas how we are maybe approaching these problems with different solutions, but we’re both seeing the pressures that American families are under and the challenges that they’re facing that we want to try to address.
And the differences between us is nothing like the differences we all have with the Republicans. And I want the American people to be part of the debate, and to hear Senator Sanders’ perspective and what he’s proposing, to hear mine, to make up their mind, and then to remember that we’re not peddling the same old failed policies of trickle-down economics and let the corporations do what they want and cut taxes on the wealthy, which is the answer to everything that the Republicans put forth.
Clinton’s answer to Tapper’s question was a great explanation of how the two candidates differ. Bernie Sanders is looking to overhaul the whole system while Hillary Clinton is more of a traditional incrementalist.
If was nice to see former Sec. Clinton not take the media’s bait and call Sanders’s positions unrealistic. Reporters have learned that they are not going to get Clinton and Sanders to personally criticize each other, so their tactics have shifted to trying to get the candidates to use loaded terms to criticize each other’s policies.
Democrats are going to stay unified and vote based on the positions of the candidates and on the issues. Clinton and Sanders have a good thing going in this campaign. Both candidates want to talk about policy, and media hates it, but the Democratic Party is stronger when the top two candidates for the nomination stick to substance.
The record ratings for Democratic debate showed that voters aren’t bored by policy. They want their candidates to discuss the issues, and Hillary Clinton won’t be suckered into anything could be twisted into a personal attack on Sen. Sanders by the media.

Witnesses Disprove Benghazi Allegations Against Clinton As Republican Conspiracy Collapses
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said that Democrats will be releasing a report that contains witness testimony that disproves the Republican Benghazi allegations against Hillary Clinton.
Transcript via Face The Nation:
DICKERSON: If you were having an investigation and a key person in it, it turns out, had a totally different way of communicating that people didn’t know about, which is to say Hillary Clinton’s e-mail server, wouldn’t that make you kind of say, hey, I would like to know about this, even to find out if it’s totally benign?
CUMMINGS: It might very well. But the fact is, is that this is the Benghazi Committee. Perhaps another committee on oversight might want to look into all that.
But this is a Benghazi committee. And that’s — and we have actually strayed away from what we were supposed to be doing. And, again, I’m looking for transparency. And one of the things I’m going to be doing this week is releasing our report, the Democrats’ report of excerpts from the various unclassified transcriptions, where I can tell you that, of all the things that Mr. Gowdy and others have been accusing Hillary Clinton of over the last three years, not a witness verifies any of that.
DICKERSON: So, in your report that you will release this week is basically information that says Hillary Clinton was not involved in what exactly?
CUMMINGS: Was not involved in this decision with regard to security on the ground there, and the fact — and it also addresses the issue of whether she was responsible for this gun-running, elicit gun-running between Libya and Syria.
And it goes on to — and then the big allegation that they have made is that she ordered the stand-down of folks to help our four diplomats. That’s absolutely not true. And I’m asking for Mr. Gowdy to release all the transcripts, so the American people can see what they paid for.
DICKERSON: Do you think Mr. Gowdy has acted in bad faith?
CUMMINGS: I think that Mr. Gowdy is a good man. I think he’s been pressured a lot from the right.
Rep. Cummings was correct. The Republican behavior is sad. It is also disgusting, appalling and a criminal abuse of power. The wheels have completely fallen off for Republicans, but the House Select Committee never passed the smell test.
Gowdy and other House Republicans regularly claim that they have evidence that Hillary Clinton did something wrong. Yet, they never produce this evidence and show it to the public.
If Republicans had any real evidence of wrongdoing by Clinton, they would on every television station screaming it from the mountaintops. The reality is that they spend their time parsing testimony of witnesses and leaking it to the public to create a perception of guilt that they hope will sway voters next November.
The Republican Benghazi sham is about to be fully exposed this week.

Pressure Grows On NBC As 115,000+ Sign Petition Demanding SNL Dump Trump
The petition states:
By inviting Trump to host Saturday Night Live, NBC is demonstrating that it doesn’t care about its Latino and pro-immigrant viewers. It is providing a platform for Trump’s insulting attacks on immigrants and calling it entertainment — something we do not find funny.
It is shameful for NBC to allow Trump to host Saturday Night Live, a comedy show when one of the main policies he has promised would rip apart millions of immigrant and Latino families.
NBC cannot bill hateful rhetoric as comedy, much less entertainment.
This should strike the American people as both unfair and wrong. NBC is risking a major backlash by insisting on letting Trump host the show. Historically, presidential have appeared on SNL. It is what they do to reach voters who might not follow politics. It makes for a nice humanizing moment, and might even be good for a few chuckles.
A candidate being in a sketch is not the same as the publicity that comes from hosting the show. If NBC refuses to dump Trump from SNL, they will be burning a lot of bridges. NBC has no problem with being in the Trump business, but they will regret their cheap ratings grab after they lose viewers on November 7 and beyond.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans are determined not to let NBC back into the Trump business.
Bernie Sanders Shreds Trump For Lying About His Plan To Raise Taxes On The Rich
During an interview on ABC’s This Week, Bernie Sanders went to town on Trump after the billionaire lied and claimed that Sanders would raise taxes to 90%.
Transcript via ABC’s This Week:
SANDERS: Well, if I had to respond to every absurd thing that Trump said, I would spend my whole life doing it. But I do want to — you raised the issue of taxes. Trump raised that issue.
And, yes, let me be very clear, if we are going to make public colleges and universities to tuition-free, as I believe we have to do in the 21st century, yes, we are going to have a tax on Wall Street speculation.
Yes, we are going to ask Trump and his billionaire friends to pay more in taxes…
STEPHANOPOULOS: What rate?
SANDERS: — yes, we are going to end these — we’ll come up with that rate. But it will be a damned lot higher than it is right now.
When you see the rich getting much, much richer, and in their effective tax rates, as Warren Buffet often reminds us, is lower than the effective tax rates of truck drivers and nurses, yes, the wealthy have got to pay more and corporations…
STEPHANOPOULOS: You said that…
SANDERS: — who, in some cases, make billions of dollars, billions of dollars a year in taxes, billions of dollars in profits, don’t pay a nickel in taxes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: You said…
SANDERS: That has to change.
STEPHANOPOULOS: You said a damned bit more. Previously, you’d been asked if a 90 percent marginal rate is certainly too high and you said no.
Sanders went on to say that the tax rate on the wealthy would be higher than it is now, but he would focus on loopholes that allow the wealthy and corporations to hide their money overseas. Sanders is going to go after the ways that the super rich make more money without paying taxes. He said that taxes would not have to be raised beyond the 1%.
From calling him a communist to completely distorting his tax plan, Trump is flat out lying about Bernie Sanders on the campaign trail. Trump isn’t lying because he is afraid of Sanders as much as his lies are designed to help him sell his own massive tax cut for the rich as a tax cut for all.
As with everything Trump does, his motives are selfish. Trump doesn’t want to pay higher taxes, and he is looking to sell himself as the ultimate benevolent capitalist by lying about Bernie Sanders.
Sen. Sanders’ messages about income inequality and unfairness are resonating, so Trump is trying to shoot the messenger, but Bernie Sanders is fighting back.
Trump picked the wrong Democratic presidential candidate to lie about.

President Obama’s Bold Step Stops Arctic Oil Drilling
In one fell swoop, the President took a concrete step to reduce all
current and future threats to the Arctic region. The Administration
cancelled new lease sales…
If a person is really devoted to something it means they are focused on that particular thing and work towards achieving its’ goals; whatever they may be. Of course, for a President of the United States it is virtually impossible to be exclusively devoted to any one thing or cause, unless of course it is a Republican pretender; they are typically exclusively devoted to war and enriching to the ultra-wealthy. Throughout President Barack Obama’s tenure in the White House, there were some ’causes’ that appeared to be set aside as if they were very low priorities, but over the past couple of years he has demonstrated that he is deeply devoted to combating climate change and protecting the environment.
Whether it is working with China to set new carbon emission standards, vetoing the KeystoneXL pipeline approval legislation, setting new clean air standards, or pushing for greater investment in renewable energy sources, there is little doubt that Barack Obama is devoted to protecting the environment and combating climate change. Now, in a stunning reversal from just a couple of months ago, President Obama has taken a huge, and absolute, step to reduce any future threats from the dirty oil industry to the North Alaskan coast and Arctic Ocean. This is a serious bit of good news for the environment and the war on global climate change that, curiously, corporate-owned mainstream media has failed to report or condemn.
On Friday, to little fanfare, the Obama Administration sent a very clear, and forceful, message to the oil industry that their dangerous plans to drill for oil in the Arctic Ocean were futile. In one fell swoop, the President took a concrete step to reduce all current and future threats to the Arctic region. The Administration cancelled new lease sales in the so-called “Polar Bear Seas,” the Chukchi and Beaufort, just off the north Alaskan coast. He also issued a terse “absolutely not” reply to lease extension requests from Shell and other oil corporations such as BP that hold existing leases in the region; leases that are now likely not worth the paper they are printed on.
Prior to the announcement, the President’s Administration had focused on, and was devoted to, excluding some “high value” environmentally-threatened areas and pledged that any drilling would be subject to “very high” standards. In fact, the Administration previously gave Shell approval to start drilling and tentatively proposed allowing even more leasing in the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic after 2017. But a few things happened in the past two months that made the President’s decision much easier to justify and frankly, necessary to protect the fragile environment and combat climate change.
First, Shell oil, in a rush to start drilling, was discovered to be using an oil spill containment system that was proven to fail prompting federal regulators to impose harsh restrictions on the company to only “preliminary shallow drill” in the Chukchi Sea off Alaska. Shortly thereafter, Mother Gaia interceded and unleashed a huge ice floe that forced Shell to halt drilling operations 70 miles off the North-West coast of Alaska. The vice president, Peter Slaiby, of Shell Alaska claimed that his company had learned a valuable lesson from the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Then, last year after a rash of Shell equipment failures, federal fines, and a BP-like drilling unit running aground, the corporation dramatically scaled-back its crusade to drill for crude in Arctic waters.
Of course, as the so-called Seattle Washington “kayaktivists” protesting Arctic drilling rightly cited that their protests and obstructionism was always more of a climate change issue due the fact that “new huge investments in dirty fuels cannot possibly be harmonized with the Administration’s stated drive to shift to a clean energy future.” But it was not just environmentalists’ pressure that emboldened the President to make the right decision; Shell’s significant international shareholders demanded that corporate leadership explain exactly how exploring and drilling for oil in a pristine environment “squared with limiting damage from global climate change.”
That nearly unanimous vote also demanded that Shell start reporting on whether, or how, its long-term business plans and current activities were compatible with a pledge by world’s governments to limit global warming to a 2C rise. Also, about 150 investors controlling billions upon billions of dollars in shares put a permanent ban on corporate bonuses for any industry activity that damages the climate. They also imposed a requirement for Shell to start investing in renewable energy.
Shell had little option but to embrace the proposal; particularly after a four-and-a-half hour meeting dominated by 98.9 % of shareholders casting doubt on Shell’s climate change credentials and criticizing the international corporation’s continued efforts to extract fossil fuels instead of focusing on clean renewable energy sources. After Shell’s board or directors “accepted” the strident shareholder resolution, the fund manager for America’s largest public pension fund praised the company for “publicly recognizing that climate change posed a threat to the world and to Shell’s business,” and likely its reputation as an international corporation. For the record, the same resolution was passed a month earlier at BP; the corporation responsible for the DeepWater Horizon disaster.
President Obama has always claimed, often to severe criticism, that his Administration’s energy policy was “all of the above.” Now it is apparent that where combating global climate change and protecting the environment and endangered wildlife is concerned, “all of the above” was just a nifty slogan and not a literal policy according to this latest action. When the President gave Shell permission to drill the Arctic a couple of months ago, he defended the move by claiming that drilling in the Arctic Ocean was inevitable.
Now that the President took the Arctic Ocean region completely off the table, it is obvious that the only inevitability is that he is devoted to doing everything within his Executive authority to combat global climate change and protect the environment. Coupled with all the other environmental protection actions and bold efforts to combat climate change, it is no wonder the Koch brothers and Republicans have spent no small amount of time and money to oppose this President; even though they have lost at every turn.
