It’s Official: Bill Clinton Did 9/11

It has long been the position of the Republican cabal that 9/11 was the worst thing to ever happen to America, at least until Barack Obama was elected president (twice). But the cabal has never...

Senate Democrats Demand That RNC Pay Taxpayers Back For Benghazi Investigation

senate-democrats
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid announced that Senate Democrats have sent a letter to the Republican National Committee demanding that the RNC pay the taxpayers back for their Benghazi investigation.
Reid called the panel a hit job on Hillary Clinton, “Former First Lady, United States Senator, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will testify before the so-called Benghazi Select Committee tomorrow. In recent weeks, it has become absolutely clear that this committee is nothing more than a political hit job on Hillary Clinton.”
On the Senate floor, Democratic Senate Leader Sen. Harry Reid summed up what this “investigation” has accomplished:
– Republicans have spent $4.7 million of taxpayer money to attack Secretary Clinton.

– Republicans have done little to investigate the Benghazi attacks.

– And what little work House Republicans actually did reconfirmed the basic findings of all of the previous investigations.
House Republicans have used the tragic deaths of four innocent Americans and turned it into an appalling political farce. The very notion that an official House Committee was used as a political tool is inexcusable. It is even more disgraceful that nearly $5 million taxpayer dollars were spent on this political hit job.
Senate Democrats will continue to fight to get this sham of a committee disbanded. Weeks ago we sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner urging him to bring this disgraceful committee to an end. Today, Senate Democrats have sent a second letter to the Republican National Committee, requesting that it reimburse the American people for the Benghazi Committee’s expenses. That seems only fair since the so-called committee is clearly a Republican political organization.
Senate Democrats aren’t standing on the sidelines. They are demanding that the Republican National Committee pay the taxpayers back the millions of dollars that they have used for their political investigation of Clinton.
Getting the money back is not enough. The best thing that could happen would be for the political leaders to hear the calls of millions of Americans and launch an independent investigation into the illegal use of taxpayer funds for partisan political purposes by House Republicans.
I suspect that after Hillary Clinton knocks down the eight-hour spectacle of staged political theater that Republicans are planning, the House Select Committee on Benghazi will go off into a corner and die a slow political death.
Republicans need to be held accountable, and nothing less than a criminal investigation is enough. The House Republican abuse of power must stop.

There've Been More Investigations Of Benghazi Than Every Other Attack In The Last 20 Years Combined

Cruz and His Mad Scramble for the Hate Vote

Cruz picked up the endorsement of notorious bigot Sandy Rios, wowed the haters at a Texas megacult, and won the teabagger caucus in NC…
Ted Cruz value voters summit It’s a good time to be a hater in America. You have an entire political cabal devoted to catering to your hating, even though there aren’t enough of you to elect even their best candidate to the highest office in the land. In fact, never in the course of human history has so little been owed by so few for so little.
On Friday, Sandy Rios, the unAmerican antiFamily Asshat’s notorious anti-gay and anti-muslim agitator, endorsed Cruz for pretender. This is the outfit that boasts Bryan Fischer, the guy who says neither jews nor christians have First Amendment rights.
Sandy Rios herself has made the news before, as when she claimed being gay crashed Amtrak or called President Obama an atheist with muslim sympathies.
It is hard to make getting Sandy Rios on your side sound like an accomplishment, but this is the kind of talk Cruz loves, announcing on his campaign website that “Citing his strong commitment to wingnut delusions and respect for the fictional wingnut 'constitution'” that Sandy Rios has endorsed him for pretender:
“I am thrilled to have the support of three of the wingnuts’ delusion strongest voices for families, religious liberty and the unborn,” said Cruz. “We are running an aggressive grassroots campaign and their help engaging and motivating wingnut trolls gives our effort a great advantage.”
Sandy Rios is the Director of Governmental Affairs for the unAmerican antiFamily Asshats, one of America’s largest, anti-family grassroots covens, and host of “Sandy Rios in the Morning on AFR Talk” which can be heard on nearly 200 stations through the unAmerican antiFamily Radio Network.
So Cruz is proud to have the endorsement of a true hater like Rios, whose politics of exclusion are much like his own and his father’s.
And Rios, as haters go, is a valuable endorsement with a large public profile. Rios made further headlines among progressives and liberals this spring when MSNBC, including Chris Matthews, had her on as a guest to discuss the supposed “religious freedom” legislation without disclosing her history of virulent rhetoric.
People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch provides a full rundown of Rios’ hate speech, and it makes truly horrific reading. At a time when Republican candidates are scrambling for the hate vote, Rios’ endorsement lends credibility to the Cruz campaign and to Ted Cruz’s conservative bona fides.
Despite Lindsey Graham’s famous warning that the hate pool is limited, the hate vote is seen as critical by Republican pretender hopefuls. The Texas Tribune reports that Cruz joined five of his fellow hopefuls – Carson, Jeb, Fiorina, Santorum and Huckabee – in Texas to talk to a crowd of 6,000 at a baptist megacult Sunday, “lamenting the receding role of 'christianity' in public life and expressing alarm about growing threats to religious freedom”:
Among the hottest topics at the North Texas Pretender Forum was religious liberty, especially in light of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in June that legalized gay marriage in all 50 states. Cruz was the most vocal, recalling at length a rally he held earlier this year in Iowa spotlighting people who believe they were discriminated against for religious reasons.
“As these threats grow darker and darker and darker, they are waking people up here in Texas and across this country,” said Cruz, who received a rock star reception from the home-state crowd.
CNN correspondent Athena Jones also noted the “rock star welcome” and “Lots of whistles and cheers and hoots and hollers.”
And Cruz wowed them with his hate, prompting the following exchange between Prestonwood’s pastor, Jack Graham, and Cruz:
Graham: “My goodness, you know how to fire people up. You could be a preacher.”
Cruz: “It’s even worse, I’m a PK.”
Graham: “A preacher’s kid. The Lord seems to be elevating you and giving you favor with people and you’re certainly, here in Texas, you’re back home and we’re really glad that you are.”
Standing in the bosom of darkness as he was, Cruz was no doubt glad too. He won’t be feeling that love everywhere he goes. It is difficult for us non-cultists to understand the appeal. We hear Cruz speak and shrink back in horror, mouthing, “What the f#%&…” Cruz comes across as beady-eyed, mealy-mouthed and weaselly and if one word in ten is the truth it’s a miracle.
But this is what Republicans love. And Cruz gives it to them in spades. The day after the Texas hatefest, Cruz celebrated by winning the hate-vote in North Carolina
There is no doubt the haters will vote for a Republican and there is a certain amount of satisfaction to be had in watching lunatics scrabble for the vote of a few crazies who aren’t numerous enough to elect them.
It’s sort of anti-politics, because in politics, people actually want to get elected and that doesn’t seem to be the purpose here. Rather, the goal seems to be labeled as the one who hate is the strongest. And that person, according to expert hater Sandy Rios, a lot of haters in Texas and teabagger extremists in North Carolina, is Cruz.

Will Colorado Become the First State to Implement Single-Payer Health Care?

by Michael Corcoran,
Colorado State CapitolThe woeful state of politics in Washington is one of the major reasons why single-payer activists have targeted reforms in the states.
Colorado citizens are about to put single-payer health care up to a vote on a 2016 statewide ballot referendum. If voters approve, Colorado's constitution will be amended to create a statewide, publicly financed, universal health system for the first time in US history.

Obama Drops The Veto Hammer On Wingnut Sanctuary Cities Bill a.k.a The Trump Act

trump-obama
President Obama is stopping a Trump inspired Republican bill that would crack down on sanctuary cities dead in its tracks by vowing to veto the legislation.
The legislation that was proposed by Vitter, who is also running for governor of Louisiana, has drawn the rage of Democrats by demonizing all immigrants. Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said, “This vile legislation might as well be called the Trump Act, like the disgusting outrageous language championed by Trump. Republicans are not really proposing this bill to solve any problems within our immigration system. This Trump Act was designed to demonize immigrants and spread the myth that they are criminals and threats to the public.”
Senate Democrats are expected to block the bill before it gets to a final vote, but just in case it might pass, the White House dropped the veto hammer on the Republican cabal.
Via a Statement of Administration Policy:
The Administration strongly opposes S. 2146. This bill fails to offer comprehensive reforms needed to fix the Nation’s broken immigration laws and undermines current Administration efforts to remove the most dangerous convicted criminals and to work collaboratively with State and local law enforcement agencies.

…..
The bill would also jeopardize the ability of State and local governments to receive Federal funding that is critical to their efforts to ensure public safety and to tackle serious problems facing their communities. For some jurisdictions, it would deny funding for cities to implement a wide range of community development and housing activities, including public safety enhancements and neighborhood-based community policing efforts and investments to increase access to affordable housing, and eliminate blight and support neighborhood planning. The bill would also essentially turn State and local law enforcement into Federal immigration law enforcement officials, in certain circumstances. The Administration believes that these provisions would lead to mistrust between communities and State and local law enforcement agencies; undermine the ability of law enforcement to keep communities safe across the country; and impede our efforts to safely, fairly, and effectively enforce the Nation’s immigration laws.
If the President were presented with S. 2146, his senior advisors would recommend that he veto this bill.
The bill is nothing more than another empty stunt by McConnell that places trying to score election-year partisan political points ahead of passing legislation that will deal with the problems facing the country.
The United States needs comprehensive immigration reform, not cheap stunts that are inspired by Donald Trump. The fact that McConnell scheduled a vote on the bill demonstrates that Trump is becoming the leader of the Republican cabal.
Trump is taking over, and his terrible ideas are being voted on in the Senate. Thanks to President Obama and Congressional Democrats, Trump’s race-baiting won’t become law.

Bernie Sanders Is Starting to Attract Republican Voters

Trump Calls Sanders A Socialist-Communist-Fascist-Marxist-Nazi

by John DeProspo
Karl-Marx
I am old enough to remember when being educated was considered a desirable thing. Believe it or not, there was a time when words had meaning and facts mattered. Oh, those were the days!
In seventh grade social studies, I remember learning about different types of world political and economic systems. We were taught the differences between capitalism, socialism and communism.
Trump, the leading Republican pretender candidate, recently called Democratic candidate, Bernie Sanders, a “socialist-slash-communist.” Now I know that can’t be true; that those labels have different meanings; that Sanders is not a communist. But it doesn’t seem to matter. The Republican base that Trump is pandering too just loves it! The moniker has two scary words side by side!
To Bernie’s credit, he calls himself a democratic socialist.
“What democratic socialism means to me,” Sanders said during a recent speech in New Hampshire, “is having a government which represents all people, rather than just the wealthiest people, which is most often the case right now in this country.”
Bernie Sanders believes “democratic socialism” is just an extension of the New Deal and the Great Society, both of which defined the Democratic Party in the 20th century.
But can any candidate in the United States win an election with the word “socialist” attached to their name? Or was Bill Maher right when he told Sanders on his cable show, “They hear ‘socialist,’ and they think ‘herpes,’ Bernie.”
In a recent Gallup poll, Americans say they are more likely to support an atheist than a socialist for president next year. Just 47 percent of Americans would vote for a socialist if their party nominated one, while 50 percent said they would not, while 58 percent said they would have no problem voting for an atheist in their party.
Bernie Sanders is not a communist nor a true socialist, as Trump has accused him of being. But perhaps Bernie needs to lay off the socialist label, even if he tones it down with the “democratic” modifier. He may be overestimating the average voter’s knowledge of different political systems and underestimating their gut hatred of the dreaded “s” word.
Bill Maher could be right. No one likes herpes. And very few Americans know the differences between socialism, capitalism and communism anyway!

Republicans Plan To Harm Disabled Veterans And The Troops With Default

disabled-vet
Ways and Means Democrats are sounding the alarm on yet another Republican debt ceiling game of chicken with its head cut off (that would be the Republicans, running around blindly and hysterically in circles, pretending they haven’t lost their heads). Yes, that’s right, tomorrow is the day they vote on their “China First” bill (H.R. 692), which is basically a plan to default on America but pay China.
Wave that flag.
Guess who will get screwed by Republicans? The Ways and Means Democrats warn the following might be defaulted on:
· Pay and benefits for 1.4 million active duty troops and 827,000 troops in reserves
· Benefits to almost 4 million disabled veterans who served their country with honor and now need our help to live
· Payment for health care for nearly 5.9 million veterans cared for at VA hospitals and health centers
· Education assistance for nearly 1.1 million veterans
· Home loan support for nearly 630,000 million veterans
· Earned payments to American small businesses, who earned more than $91 billion dollars for goods and services rendered last year, and used those dollars to support more than 550,000 jobs
· Payments to nearly 1 million doctors and other health care practitioners who provided health care to Medicare beneficiaries
· Payments to schools for nutritious meals – 30.5 million children participated in the school lunch program
· Payments to almost 50,000 National Institutes of Health grantees, who are conducting life-saving medical research and providing an estimated 300,000 jobs
The Treasury Department concurred, so it’s not just partisan fears (of course, Wall Street is shaking as Republicans take them to the brink again, and even the Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal is also terrified, so definitely not just Democrats who are alarmed), “Prioritizing principal and interest would mean paying some of our creditors – many of whom are foreign institutions – while defaulting on across-the-board payments everywhere else. That would include payments to members of the military, veterans, and senior citizens. It would include payments on infrastructure projects. In this scenario that America defaults on its obligations, there would be no way to prevent significant disruptions and hardship for millions of Americans. Default would undermine confidence in the creditworthiness of the United States.”
Significant hardship is coming once again to Americans, courtesy of the same party that brought them the 2007 recession and 2008 great wipe out of their savings and retirement accounts. For what reason? Oh, just Republicans wishing they could defund the surest way to reduce the abortion rate because socking it to women is worth cratering the economy once again.
Republicans say this is about “spending”, but of course, the spending has already happened, what they are doing is refusing to pay for what they bought. And also, spending under Obama has only gone up 7.9%, which is not very much.
Would any sane person consider giving Republicans the White House again? George W Bush cratered the economy, and now Republicans are cutting holes in the rescue boat, tossing the life preservers over the side — not even saving any for their own. They’ve become total jihadists, out to get America no matter what.

How Trump Is Destroying Fox News' Carefully Crafted Benghazi Narrative

It Gets Worse For Republicans As Republican Cabal Busted For Lying About Access To Emails

gowdy-boehner
Democrats caught Republican Benghazi Select Committee members in a stone cold lie when  Gowdy and Westmoreland claimed that Congress did not have access to Amb. Ted Stevens’ emails.
Select Committee Chairman Gowdy (R-SC) said on Face The Nation, “none of the seven previous committees bothered to access the emails of our Ambassador.”
Republican Select Committee Member Pompeo said on Meet The Press, “How on earth could any of the other committees have completed their work properly without access to the senior person on the ground’s emails?”
Today on CNN, Committee Member Westmoreland said on CNN, “Wouldn’t you want to know the emails of the guy that was there that was murdered and what he had asked for as far as help from the people he worked for? We’ve just now gotten those emails. We have just now gotten them. Nobody else had requested them. I haven’t had a chance to read them. We didn’t get them until the day before yesterday.”
The Democrats on the Benghazi Committee responded by crushing this Republican lie:
Contrary to Republican claims, multiple committees of Congress—including the Oversight Committee on which Chairman Gowdy serves—had access to many of Ambassador Stevens’ emails for years. On November 24, 2014, and December 9, 2014, the State Department produced to the Select Committee approximately 25,000 pages of documents that had already been “previously produced to Congress.”
Some of these emails from Ambassador Stevens included:
– an August 19, 2011, email exchange between Special Envoy Stevens and the Deputy Director of the Office of Maghreb Affairs about the logistics of providing security for a temporary duty officer to be assigned to eastern Libya (C05392462);
– a September 6, 2011, email from Special Envoy Stevens explaining why he felt it was important to maintain a U.S. presence in Benghazi (C05389447);
– a June 12, 2012, email exchange between Ambassador Stevens and the Director of the Office of Maghreb Affairs about the security situation in Benghazi (C05409960);
– a June 13, 2012, email exchange between Ambassador Stevens and State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland about the Department’s public statements in light of recent violence in Libya (C05391866);
– an August 30, 2012, email exchange between Ambassador Stevens and the Principal Officer in Benghazi discussing a press report about the security situation in Benghazi (C05397290); and
– a September 8, 2012, email exchange between Ambassador Stevens and the Political Officer in Tripoli discussing a schedule for Ambassador Stevens’ upcoming travel to Benghazi (C05395356).
Political observers have witnessed this behavior during other debunked Republican scandals. House Republicans ignored reality when they were investigating the IRS scandal. Republicans have pulled this same stunt during the other Benghazi investigations.
House Republicans have nothing new to investigate, so they are reviving old lies, and pretending that the previous investigations never happened.
The lies are piling up, and House Republicans have nowhere to go but down. Democrats are shredding the Benghazi investigation before Hillary Clinton sits down to testify.
