Here’s some of the biggest and boldest lies told during the 2016 race for president

Trump’s claim that Arab Americans cheered during the September 11, 2001 attacks is just the latest in a string of falsehoods from US presidential candidates.

Kasich Wants You To Think He’s A Moderate: That’s A Big Fat Lie

Featured image credit: DonkeyHotey via Flckr, cc 2.0Kasich is as rude and arrogant as Trump, as extreme as Cruz or Paul, and at least as crazy as Carson. He’s also a much better manipulator, which may make him the most dangerous wingnut candidate of all.

Alan Grayson: I'll File Suit If Cruz Is The Nominee

Rubio Says to Ignore SCOTUS Decision and First Amendment

Rubio continues the Republican narrative that the bible they haven't read trumps the Constitution they haven't read…
rubio-gods-law It’s a two-fer from Rubio, dissing on not only the Supreme Court but on the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Like other Republican pretender hopefuls, he does not to understand that the United States Constitution and not the bible is the law of the land.
We know that, because nowhere in the Constitution does it mention the bible or “dog’s law,” let alone even mention dog. It’s really a no-brainer, and that in itself really says it all. It also explains why Rubio appeared with David Brody of CBN’s The Brody File Wednesday, to say that Obergefell and Roe are “not settled law.”
Except: United States Constitution.
But Rubio doesn’t care about that:
“We are clearly called, in the bible, to adhere to our civil authorities, but that conflicts with also a requirement to adhere to dogs rules. When those two come in conflict, dog’s rules always win. “In essence, if we are ever ordered by a government authority to personally violate and sin, violate dogs law and sin, if we’re ordered to stop preaching the lies, if we’re ordered to perform a same-sex marriage as someone presiding over it, we are called to ignore that. We cannot abide by that because government is compelling us to sin.”
Of course, the government is not compelling anyone to sin. Nobody is telling Rubio to marry a man or to eat shellfish or to cut his hair, let alone to take the lunatic’s name in vain. The government IS asking him not to impose his beliefs on others.
So what to do about this non-problem? For Rubio, the answer is clear:
The states should “do everything possible within the constraints that its placed upon us” to curtail abortion rights, before insisting that government officials “ignore” Supreme Court rulings if they believe they conflict with “dog’s rules.”
What we need, he is saying, is more Kim Davises.
This is the same guy who tried to wheedle his way out of the Marriage Equality debate at the Pretender Family Forum in Iowa last week by claiming,
“The debate is about how do you define an institution, the institution of marriage, which has been defined the same way for all of human history. That’s what the debate is about. It’s not about discriminating against anyone. The debate is about how do you define an institution.”
Which is funny, because far from being defined the same way all through history, it isn’t even defined the same way all through the bible he is pretending to claim as the highest law.
There is no justification for what Rubio claims we need. The Constitution is quite clear on that. The Constitution is quite clear as to its status as the law of the land and the role of the Supreme Court as the highest court in the land. He might try reading it sometime.
All this no doubt sells with the Republican base, which seems never to have heard of the United States Constitution, or which somehow confuses it with the bible. It’s really rather a short document and there is no excuse to remain unfamiliar with what it says, given that it establishes our country and the laws by which it is governed.
Certainly, Rubio will never sit in the Oval Office. We all know that even if he does not. But these endless attacks on the United States Constitution by what must increasingly be termed American fascism, take their toll.
The entire wingnut apparatus is slipping toward fascism and millions of Americans have been indoctrinated to believe that the bible none of them have read takes precedence over the Constitution none of them have read.
How could anything go wrong?

Kochs' Push for Criminal Legal Reform Is Aimed at Protecting Corporate Lawbreakers

by Thom Hartmann
It looks like the Koch brothers have scammed us once again.
When news first came out that Charles and David Koch - the Koch brothers - were supporting criminal legal system reform efforts in Congress, many of us thought, "Wow, they're actually doing something good for once." And for good reason, too.
Criminal legal reform has, over the past few years, become one of the very few legitimately bipartisan issues in US politics, and given their public statements, it really looked like Kochs were joining that bipartisan consensus for all the right reasons.
Here, for example, is Charles Koch on a recent episode of "Morning Joe" talking about why we need to reform drug laws. Sounds pretty persuasive, right? Boy, were we naïve.

Vermin Supreme Is Running for President

... And he's a far more qualified candidates than any Republican!
Vermin Supreme has filed the necessary paperwork to run for president in the 2016 New Hampshire primary. Neatorama showed you his campaign video the last time he ran in 2012. In fact, this is Supreme’s seventh presidential campaign! His platform: giving everyone in the US a pony.
Other policy positions Vermin espouses include going back in time to kill baby Hitler, mandatory tooth brushing for all citizens, and buying everyone a pony.
Of course, this ain’t his first rodeo; this will be the protest candidate’s seventh run for president of these United States, and he’s been using absurdist humor to agitate against bourgeois democracy and stir up protest votes since the 1980s. But with “serious” candidates for pretender like Carson and Trump getting more outlandish by the day, the Vermin message seems more relevant than ever.
Death and Taxes has more on the candidate, and some extended footage of Supreme’s recent appearance at a Carson rally.

The Republican Cabal: America’s Largest Hate Group

by Allen Clifton
If there was ever any doubt that the Republican cabal has become America’s largest hate group, they’ve put that to rest following the response by many within the republican cabal concerning the U.S. accepting Syrian refugees. From several Republicans suggesting that we only take in 'christians', to people like Christie saying he wouldn’t have a problem saying “no” to a small Syrian child seeking a place to go, it takes a special level of hate to behave in the manner that’s commonly accepted by most wingnuts. The Republican cabal is built on a foundation of hate. It’s the attitude of, “Our way of life is under attack by (fill in the group).”
Whether it’s equality for women, immigration, minorities in general, other religions (especially Islam) or liberals – Republicans are constantly pushing the idea that some group of people is actively trying to “destroy American values.” It’s the attitude most commonly found among conservatives I encounter. Many of these folks literally believe that President Obama is some sort of un-American Muslim operative out to destroy the United States.
Today alone I had three different wingnuts message me with various conspiracies about the president helping ISIL. One of them even denied that any airstrikes against the terrorist group had been carried out, dismissing official reports on the Department of Defense’s website as “lies by the Obama administration.” Now one might dismiss such nonsense as just that – nonsense – except I get messages like these constantly. In fact, it’s this attitude that drove the ridiculous Jade Helm conspiracies over the summer. The asinine belief that President Obama was staging a giant military operation within the southwest to seize guns. People were actually burying their guns to hide them from government officials. I wish that were a joke, but it’s not.
Take a look at the rise of Trump. His campaign was jump started when he publicly declared that most Mexican immigrants were “rapists and criminals.” In fact, it seems that the more he bashes immigrants, or talks about the ridiculous notion of rounding up over 12 million people to deport, the more his poll numbers rise. Right now  Rubio and Cruz – children of immigrants – are currently in a fairly heated public back and forth over who hates immigrants the most. The House Majority Whip Scalise was found to had given a speech at a white supremacist event a few years back and not only did he keep his job as one of the most powerful people in Congress, but he got the full backing of party leadership. Republicans Cruz, Huckabee and  Jindal recently spoke at a conference hosted by a pastor who’s publicly stated he believes gay people should be put to death. Even a bottom-feeder like Coulter, a woman who should really wear a white hood when she speaks, is promoted and embraced by the wingnut media. The list goes on and on.
It’s not only acceptable to publicly push hate within the Republican cabal – you essentially must embrace hatred to stand any chance at advancing within the ranks of the Republican cabal. Let’s not forget that wignuts are a group of people who booed an actively deployed gay member of our military during a 2012 presidential debate – and not a single Republican candidate on stage that night condemned the reaction, likely out of fear that defending the gay serviceman would have negatively impacted their campaign. To deny that the Republican cabal is driven by hate and fear is to deny reality. This is a cabal which prides itself on “'christian' values” yet exemplifies almost nothing “christ-like.”
In my opinion, you lose any right to call yourself a christian when you turn your back on desperate women and children fleeing for their lives from those who wish to slaughter them. The truth is, the Republican cabal has become a machine fueled by hatred, driven by fear-mongering and propped up by those who exploit this ignorance within our society for political gain. They’ve built their coalition of voters by embracing some of the worst aspects of our society. But I think it’s undeniable when you look at the policies, the rhetoric and the vitriolic nature displayed by conservatives toward so many different groups of people – the modern-day Republican cabal has become our nation’s largest hate group.

Americans Love Their Socialism

Bernie Sanders Voted The Most Popular Senator In The US
Bernie Sanders real time
A new poll found that Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has been voted the most popular senator in the United States.
A Morning Consult poll of 75,000 voters in all 50 states found that Sanders has the highest approval rating with his constituents of any senator in the country. Sanders has an 83% approval rating in Vermont. The second most popular senator was moderate Republican Collins of Maine (78%). Third was John Barasso of Wyoming (73%), and fourth was Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont (71%).
The pollsters pointed out that senators from smaller states tend to have higher approval ratings, “Members from smaller states tend to have higher approval ratings: All 14 senators from states with just three electoral votes sport approval ratings north of 50 percent, and seven have approval ratings higher than 60 percent.”
A 2011 PPP poll found that Sanders was the country’s third most popular senator with a 67% approval rating. In the years since, Sanders has become even more beloved by voters in Vermont.
The popularity of Bernie Sanders is no fluke. Sen. Sanders has been popular for years. The only reason he flew under the radar until he ran for president was the bias within the corporate press that causes them to ignore popular liberals and progressives. The media has been conditioned to reject liberals by decades of wingnut badgering about media bias.
The presidential campaign has helped Bernie Sanders go mainstream, but he was already hugely popular. His run for president is helping Sanders become one of the most powerful figures on the left, and definitely the country’s top grassroots leader.
Whether or not Sen. Sanders wins the Democratic nomination, his campaign has been good for the Democratic Party, liberalism, and has given voice to millions of ordinary Americans who are trampled and ignored in our current political system.

Democrats Are The Inclusive Party As 81 Percent Of Iowa Democrats Welcome Syrian Refugees

81 percent of likely Iowa Democratic caucus goers support accepting Syrian refugees into the United States.…
welcome
A Quinnipiac University poll of Iowa Democratic caucus goers, released on November 25th, found a competitive race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, with Clinton leading the race 51 percent to 42 percent over Sanders. Beyond the horse race numbers, the poll also revealed an important truth about Democratic voters.
While wingnuts are cowering in fear over the prospects of Syrian refugees settling in the United States, Democrats are overwhelmingly in favor of welcoming the refugees. 81 percent of likely Iowa Democratic caucus goers support accepting Syrian refugees into the United States, compared to just 13 percent who oppose accepting the refugees.
The welcoming spirit of Iowa Democrats contrasts with the fearful approach being taken by many Americans in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks. A recent Bloomberg Politics poll, for example, found that 53 percent of Americans wanted to reject all Syrian refugees, and an additional 11 percent wanted to admit only 'christian' refugees.
The Democrats’ approach to the refugee crisis stands in sharp contrast to the hysteria being drummed up by wingnut politicians, who have exploited fears of terrorism to whip up anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant sentiment. To their credit, all three Democratic presidential candidates have expressed their desire to continue to admit refugees into the United States. That position aligns well with Iowa Democrats, who are committed to the same position.
President Obama has also staunchly defended the policy of allowing refugees to enter the country. Many House Democrats caved to fear and opposed the resettlement, but those nervous Democrats are a minority within their party. As Iowa Democrats have made clear, the activists who are willing to attend precinct caucuses to determine the future of the party, are strongly in favor of an inclusive America that does not shut its doors on refugees in need.
Democrats who favor refugee entry, will be well served by any of the current Democratic presidential contenders. Democrats will continue to push for an inclusive America, and Iowa Democrats will lead the way when they cast their votes in the nation’s first presidential caucuses.

Republican Stupidity Forces John Kerry To Explain the Vetting Process For Syrian Refugees

In a letter sent to all governors, Sec. Kerry had to explain again which refugees are getting priority (hint: it's not the terrorists) and that the Syrian refugees…
state department image
As you can imagine, Secretary of State John Kerry is a busy man. He’s flying all over the world to hold diplomatic talks with various heads of state because that’s his job. But now he has another job: the job of redundant explainer of the Syrian refugee screening process to the slow, the fact-challenged, and the fearful.
In the wake of the Obama administration’s announcement that we would be increasing our acceptance of Syrian refugees from 1,682 in fiscal year 2015 to 10,000 in fiscal year 2016, Governors like Walker (R-WI) issued meaningless but stern refusals to Syrian refugees based on a false belief that there is no vetting process.
Walker believes, for example, “It has become apparent there are not proper security procedures in place to appropriately background and accurately ascertain the identities of those entering our country through the Syrian refugee program.”
How this has become apparent to the man whose failure to grasp foreign policy — even at the frayed edges — contributed to his early drop out as a pretender candidate is anyone’s guess. I’ll go with right wing blogs for $100.00.
Thus, Kerry and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson were forced to send letters (published Monday but issued Friday) to all state governors and to the mayor of D.C., even after the White House already had a phone call with governors around the country during which they explained the procedures. Which were already laid out in multiple places on the web, which is still open and even free to use. Nothing like a little government waste.
Kerry had to explain again which refugees are getting priority (hint: it’s not the terrorists):
“It is important to note that the overwhelming majority of Syrian refugees we have accepted and will accept are families, victims of torture, and children… A very small proportion of these refugees have been, or will be, adult males who are not accompanied by children nor joining families in the U.S., and those adult males who are accepted will generally be especially vulnerable adults, such as survivors of torture, LGBT individuals, or those with disabilities.”
By all means, we should refuse to open our doors as even France opens its doors to Syrian refugees. After all, nothing says giving in to terrorism like turning our backs on orphans and disabled refugees of terrorism.
Republican governors are pretending that the House bill that President Obama dropped the veto hammer on would make security stronger, when in fact it is not only redundant but its true goal appears to opponents to be to ban all refugees from entering the country in what Republicans are calling a “pause.”
The Obama administration said of the wingnut bill, “This legislation would introduce unnecessary and impractical requirements that would unacceptably hamper our efforts to assist some of the most vulnerable people in the world, many of whom are victims of terrorism, and would undermine our partners in the Middle East and Europe in addressing the Syrian refugee crisis.”
Oh, so unnecessary and impractical. Sounds about right for the House, where they clearly think they know national security better than the DHS, DOD, and FBI, in spite of their repeated leaking of classified information from their Benghazi witch hunts. Okay then.
Kerry reminded governors that our screening process for Syrian refugees is the most robust process, “It is the most robust screening process for any category of individuals seeking admissions into the United States… Additional precautions have been added with regard to Syrian refugees.”
Republicans (and a few Democrats) are desperately whipping up fear and then trying to play Big Man on Campus by demanding stronger screenings, when they don’t seem to be aware of the actual existing process, let alone the fact that their “more rigorous” screening suggestions are redundant at best, and wasteful and showboaty at worst.
Republicans can’t let an opportunity to waste government resources while bad-mouthing Obama and instilling panic in the public just pass them by. Nope. Every tragedy is fodder for fear, dirt, and mud.
Next up: The Obama administration forced to publish “Syrian Refugees for Dummies” booklet to be passed around D.C. with high hopes.

Democrats Demand That Hypocrite Republicans Stop Supporting Arming US Terror Suspects

reid-senate-democrats
36 members of the Senate Democratic caucus sent a letter to McConnell (R-KY) demanding that he and Ryan (R-WI) allow a vote on a bill that would block gun sales to suspected terrorists.
In their letter 34 Democrats along with Independent Sens. Bernie Sanders and Angus King wrote:
Republicans and Democrats alike — should have the opportunity to do their part to keep our country safe by ensuring terrorists cannot obtain firearms and explosives. By passing the bill, we could save American lives and help prevent terrorists from obtaining dangerous weapons.

….
There is no reason why suspected terrorists who we consider too dangerous to board airplanes should be able to walk into any gun store in the United States and purchase a firearm or an explosive for the purpose of carrying out a terrorist act. But today, suspected terrorists can legally purchase guns in the United States — and they’re doing so, even while law enforcement may be investigating them or pursuing their arrest or indictment.

If Republicans want to prevent a Paris style terrorist attack in the United States, their top priority should be to close the loophole that allows suspected terrorists to buy guns. Paul Ryan signaled early opposition to the bill that would prevent terror suspects from legally buying guns by saying,”We are just beginning this process of reassessing all of our security stances.”
House Republicans had no qualms about acting quickly to pass a bill that keep orphaned Syrian refugee children out of the country, but they want to take their time on a bill that would prevent terror suspects from buying guns.
The NRA is opposed to the bill because potential terrorism money is just as green as anybody else’s. The NRA is hiding their opposition to the legislation behind concerns that innocent Americans may be denied their guns if they are placed on the terror watch list.
Republicans are the NRA are supporting legally arming individuals to commit acts of terror against American citizens.
American lives are being placed in jeopardy because Republicans and the NRA would rather sell guns than stop terrorists.
