Being a waitress is not easy. Between the low pay and rude customers
it’s a moment-by-moment test of patience. The opportunities to speak
your mind (and keep your job) are few and far between. But one such
opportunity presented itself Sunday when Kansas Governor Sam Brownback
walked into Boss Hawg’s Barbeque in Topeka (not making that up).
Chloe Hough happened to be working her last shift at BHBBQ and responded in true carpe diem fashion once she realized she was waiting on her state’s chief executive.
Now Hough could have aired a number of grievances. Brownback has darn near governed the Sunflower State into the ground. Between his attacks on the poor and the LGBT community, it’s little wonder he’s drawn the attention of Jon Stewart on more than occasion.
So Hough had her moment and…she showed the governor a thing or two about empathy. She handed Brownback his receipt and on it she wrote “tip the schools” in the tip line.
According to KSNT News, Hough said, “I just knew I had to say something or I would regret it.”
Well done, Chloe.
