Our week on the mountain was great.

It was nice to see old friends again.

Late last Wednesday we got a call from a friend we had not heard from in several years saying that he and his wife had just bought some land in the mountains next to ours and wanted us to come up and spend some time with them and some other friends at the new place.

We spent the entire week since there.

Turned out they had bought the other side of the river from us so that between us we own over a mile of riverfront on both sides of the river - a private paradise for ourselves and our friends.

Unfortunately we had to return to the work-a-day world and bring this blog up to speed - tomorrow we will be back to our normal schedule.

The Republican Cabal is a Cabal of Fascists

In a well reasoned article, Salon Magazine addresses the issue as to whether the Republican cabal is actually a cabal of fascists, and what this means to the future political landscape of America.
Salon sums up the current Republican cabal as follows:

The Republican cabal tends to preach and practice intolerance, xenophobia, nationalism and anti-democratic values (i.e., voter suppression). The Republican cabal is anti-enlightenment, and embraces passion over reason. The dangerous denial of climate change and other scientific facts seems to come out of the corrupt alliance of anti-intellectual traditionalism and corporate influence (i.e., oil and gas).

Now, the fact of the matter is that old fascism did not die in the mid-20th century it just slithered under a rock. The Republican cabal are obviously neo-fascists, and share a family resemblance. As stated above, the base have many similar passions — traditionalism, nationalism, intolerance towards immigrants or minorities. They react with hostility towards the social progress of others and largely believe in a ‘survival of the fittest’ ideology.

Giovanni Gentile, the “philosopher of fascism” and ghostwriter for Mussolini, said of the definition of fascism in the Encyclopedia of Italiana: “Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.” This definition may very well fit the Republican cabal ideology: a kind of corporate fascism, where large corporations have the ultimate power; where the politicians spew a hateful, intolerant ideology based on “traditional” values, on a platform funded by corporate interests, elected by the people to serve those very corporate interests; and deny environmental degradation because it would be unprofitable for the funders to do anything about it, using the anti-intellectual hostility to convince the people that it is nothing more than a left-wing conspiracy.

Details have been emerging which highly suggest that both Ted Cruz's parents had become Canadian citizens prior to his birth. According to past public statements made by his father, legal opinions and documentation currently available, Rafael (Ted) Cruz was likely born of 2 Canadian citizens in Calgary back in December of 1970.Under public pressure regarding a possible run for pretender, Cruz did release his Canadian certificate of birth. Since the certificate only lists his parents place of birth and not their citizenship status, it has just merely been assumed that his mother retained her US citizenship since her birth. It was not until May of 2014 that Cruz filed the legal paperwork necessary to officially denounce his Canadian citizenship which was automatic at birth.
According to a documented timeline of the Cruz' Family citizenship status and various other legal experts in Canada, Cruz was born a citizen of Canada at birth and there is no denying that legal fact. This timeline provides a summary of known citizenship status of his father, mother and himself presented in chronological order of events.
A recent FOIA request to obtain a copy of his US naturalization papers, if they exist, was denied stating that the information would have to be requested by Rafael (Ted) Cruz himself. With the now highly likely true circumstances of his birth, this moron from Texas should be required to show proof that he ever became a citizen of the United States in order to be allowed to retain his seat in congress. Without this documentation of naturalization, which would be further proof to automatically disqualify him from running for pretender, he can in no way continue to hold a seat in the US Senate as one must at least have become a US citizen through naturalization to be eligible to hold the office.
If  Cruz was only a citizen of Canada and has since denounced that citizenship, is he a man without a country and unlawfully holding a US Senate seat?
Will the American people unite in a demand that our constitution is finally adhered to? At least 3 Republican contenders for pretender are obviously not eligible to run for the office. Why has even Trump gotten silent on the issue? It will take the American people to right these wrongs, no candidate currently running for office from either major party has the guts to ever do it.
